Borno Governor Describes Food Insecurity As The Worst

Governor Babagana Zulum, while noting the tremedous support of the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Police for their effort in restoring relative peace being enjoyed in Borno State, said Food insecurity is the worst form of insecurity that can happen to a nation.
Zulum, while addressing over 10,000 farmers and security agencies said his government is not here to undermine the effort of the Nigerian army but rather to make things easy for the generality of the people of Borno State.
He urged the Nigerian army to devise a means of survelliance that will reduce hardship for farmers. The governor who noted that the rainy season is a span of time from 2-3months and is very crucial to farmers.
He therefore appealed to the Nigerian Army to look into the possibility of allowing farmers to access theirs farms as conducting a screening exercise for over 10,000 farmers which will take 3-4 hrs is an herculean task.
He noted that the challenges and root causes of insecurity must be addressed hence, it leads to challenges of poverty, infrastructural deficit, climate liabilities and food insecurity which is the worst form of insecurity.
Zulum said, “the removal of fuel subsidy is a major challenge to farmers but my government and that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with Vice President Kashim Shettima who is a son of the soil will unfailingly deliver dividends of democracy to the people, i appealed to the people to be law abiding amidst challenges while anticipating better days.”
The governor said in order to ease sufferings of farmers, Borno State government decided to provide about 50buses, 30 pick-up cars and tricylcles pick up to convey farmers to their farmlands at no cost during the rainy season this year.
He said the Nigerian Union of Road Transport Workers and Borno State Government will liase to achieve it.
He appealed to farmers to work closely with the Nigerian Army and give them their maximum support as they are here to protect farmers while also urging the Nigerian Army to establish protocol while dealing with farmers.
