In line with his aim of uplifting small and medium scale businesses in Borno State, the governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum has empowered more than five thousand youths with cash grants and skills acquisition packages.
The governor also distributed industrial tailoring machines as well as power generator sets to 2000 beneficiaries with tailoring skills.
Governor Zulum said: “The Total number of beneficiaries are 5300 because 2000 of them will receive a cash benefit of 150,000 each making the sum of 100million naira in addition to the items I’ve just listed, while other’s who haven’t benefited from this scheme now, will benefit in the subsequent presentation.
“Borno State has pledge to support all the tailors in the state. Those that have benefited from this scheme are okay but I advice the tailoring association of Borno State to compile the list of all tailors in the all 27 Local government of the State that have not benefited from the scheme.”
In his appreciation, the Chairman of the amalgamated Tailors association of Borno state, Shuaibu Alhaji Abatcha said, the governor has not disappointed them with his promise to always empower tailors in the State.
“My people you all witness when he directed us to a micro-finance bank and when we got there, 2000 of us were given money. He now brought us starters kit for our 2000 members to use in building themselves and people around them. Over 5000 people will benefit from this scheme.
“My people if there’s anything I will tell you is to appreciate his Excellency the governor of Borno State.”
