The Borno State Ggovernor, Professor Babagana Zulum has inspected the ongoing construction of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, BOSUTH that is worth over 30 billion Naira.
The Governor was received by the MD/CEO Monguno Engineering Nigeria Limited, Usman Tijanni, while inspecting the ongoing project.
Usman Tijanni before taking the Governor round the project, had displayed a graphical overview of the project and explained in details, that the hospital has 400 bed space capacity.

“We have 24 beds per Ward and a semi complex system of building was adopted for the project, all the departments have seminar rooms, class room, library and offices.
“All the Wards have the following facilities:
“We have two self contained rooms, we have Doctor’s room, we have changing rooms, then we have stores, treatment rooms, and Nursing station”.

Usman further said, the hospital has 7 departments which are Paediatic Department, Obstetric and Ganaecology Department, Orthopedic department, Opthalmology department, general outpatient department, Radiology department and medical and surgery department.
Governor Zulum in his remarks, expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of the work done so far on the site.

The Governor said, “the quality of the work done here need to be commended very well. ” We have seen many university Teaching Hospitals across the country and abroad, It is my believe that after this work, this will be one of the most beautiful teaching hospital in Nigeria”.
The Governor explained that the influx of internally displaced persons to Maiduguri metropolis, has put pressure on the existing health facilities.

He said this was one of the reason for construction of the Teaching Hospital which will cost the State the sum of thirty billion naira (N30, 000,000,000.
The Governor explained that, “you are aware that the Borno State government has established it’s own State University 3years ago, and because of the growing population in Maiduguri city as a result of the influx of internal displaced persons on the existing secondary health facilities that we have here in Maiduguri are overstretched hence, the need to build the University Teaching Hospital not only to provide service needed with a view to enhance the quality of our students that are coming up to study medicine in the State University, but also to provide qualitative and affordable health care system to the people of Borno State”.
Governor Zulum stated that he was optimistic that the project would be completed before the expiration of his first tenure in office despite the dwindling federal government allocation to the State.
Governor Zulum had earlier inspected an ongoing construction of a township bridge that is linked to some parts of the communities.
