Borno State Governor Lauds Nigeria Government’s Food Aid

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has conveyed appreciation for the recent palliative support from the Federal Government of Nigeria, to cushion the effect of the soaring prices of food across the nation, and a startup grant for the establishment of the Federal College of Education Gwoza.

The food support, provided by the Federal Government through the Ministry of Agriculture, is seen as pivotal in enhancing the resilience of Borno’s communities.

Highlighting the receipt of 36,000 bags of assorted grains, Governor Zulum in an interview with journalist noted that approximately 10,000 households would benefit from these provisions, each will receive 50kg of assorted grains, provided by the Federal Government.

The palliative support consists of assorted grains of millet, maize and sorghum in addition to that the Borno State government had supported 22,000 vulnerable women with 10,000 naira each in the communities of Pulka, warabe Goshe and warabe within Gwoza local government.

Additionally, the Borno State government has given 5-yard wrapper to each of the 22,000 women, enhancing the impact of the aid distributed by both the state and the federal government.

Governor Zulum expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continuous support to the people of Borno, he remarked, “a recent reversal of a decision regarding the proposed merger of federal institutions, initially outlined in the Oronsanye Committee report, particularly impacting the Army University Biu.”

Governor Zulum further commended the efforts of various governmental entities, including the Office of the Vice President, representatives from NEMA, and the Office of the National Security Adviser for ensuring the deliverance of those items on time.

Additionally, the distribution event saw the participation of representatives from various organizations, including NEMA, the police commissioner’s office, DSS, the Christian Association of Nigeria, and the Jama’atu Nassurul Islam, underscoring the collective commitment to supporting communities in need.
