Borno State: Governor Zulum Withdraws Commissioner Nominee
Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has written to the State House of Assembly, withdrawing the nomination of Dr Ibrahim Ngoshe as a commissioner.
It would be recalled that Zulum had on July 28, forwarded the list of his cabinet nominees to the Legislature for screening and approval.
The governor’s spokesman, Mallam Isa Gusau, who announced this in a statement issued on Saturday in Maiduguri, the State capital, explained that by this, the number of commissioner nominees was down from 18 to 17.
Gusau said further details will be provided should the need arise.
Ngoshe was number 13 on the earlier list submitted to the Assembly by the governor.
The nominee is yet to react to the development, although it is unclear if Ngoshe’s case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) triggered the governor’s action.
In March, the Maiduguri Zonal Command of the anti-graft agency had arraigned Ngoshe before Justice Aisha Kumaliya of the Borno State High Court on a one-count charge of criminal misappropriation to the tune of N24,000,000.00 (Twenty-Four Million Naira).
He had pleaded “not guilty” to the charge levelled against him, while the judge remanded him and adjourned the case until May.
