Borno State partners with World Bank to distribute Farm inputs

The Borno State in collaboration with N.Care, an initiative programme under the world Bank flagged off the 2022 distribution of farm inputs in the Kaga local government area in Borno State.
The Borno State Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum who kicked off the distribution of assorted seeds, cash and other farm inputs targets 16,753 farmers in the state.
Zulum in his remarks said, “we all know the covid-19 exigencies have put our economy in a stagnant position, especially to our rural farmers, the pandemic has affected the entire food system, the restriction of movement hindered food logistics services, thereby affecting the movement of availability of food”.
“In response to the situation the Borno, State Government had to distribute farm inputs for the year 2022, to about 3,150 beneficiaries with cash of N5000 naira each, the Agricultural support is aimed at targeting 16,753 farmers which will indirectly benefit 2,500,014 across the state, this will help our teaming farmers to recover from the major economic loss in Agricultural in the past few years, this support programme is initiated by the Ministry of Agriculture and through the N.Care programme supported by the World Bank.
The Governor further said, as regards that “the Borno State will provide the tractors, harrows, cash and all mechanism, while the World Bank Programme (N.Care) will provide the assorted seeds and other agriculture implements to the farmers.
The Governor also shared wrappers and distributed them to N2000 to 6000 women in the host community of the Kaga local government area. He urged them to unite and utilise the opportunity to make the best out of it.
