Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, the President of the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C), has expressed his appreciation for the Emeka Agba Boxing Promotions, a new addition to the Nigerian boxing industry.

Ladipo noted that the development has raised the prospects of a brighter future for the sport and its practitioners in Nigeria.

“We are happy to announce to the public another boxing promoter joining the ever-growing list of boxing promoters in the country. We are proud of our achievements as we are determined to take boxing to the next level.

“We have a growing number of 167 promoters in the country as we speak, and we can only ask for more to come and join the moving train.” Ladipo said.

The Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C) says no fewer than 12 boxers will take centre stage in six bouts in the maiden Emeka Agba Boxing Promotions come Nov. 12.

According to Ladipo, 12 boxers will feature in various weight categories, with a national cruiserweight challenge between Ambrose Godwin and Samuel Ebohen as the main fight.

In the same vein, Agaba, in his remarks, said he was proud to associate with the current NBB of C and was confident that boxing was getting the necessary attention it deserved.

“I’m in this business of developing the youth through boxing. I want to play my role in taking many youths off the streets and give them the opportunity to earn a good living. This is going to be our first outing ant it promises to be fun and exciting. Above all, it is not going to be our last, we continue to improve day in day out.” Agba said.

He added that boxing was his favourite sports and would love to develop home grown boxers that would one day contend for world boxing heavyweight bouts at the international level.

“I will love to take boxing in Nigeria to the next level, I want to see the next Anthony Joshua and Efe Ajagba from my own camp,” he said.

He called on all stakeholders and lovers of the sport to support the initiative, which he said was the sure way of taking restive youths off the streets and giving them a good source of income to take good care of their families.
