The ban was imposed by Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday after an off-duty police officer caught him using a mobile phone while driving his Rolls-Royce in London.

District Judge Andrew Sweet handed down the penalty after Stormzy admitted, in a letter, to using the device while driving in West Kensington on March 7, 2024. Sweet remarked that Stormzy’s driving record was “not good” and condemned his “dangerous and irresponsible” behavior.

The judge also imposed a fine of £2,010 ($2,498) and added six points to Stormzy’s driving record.

Before Thursday’s hearing, he already had six points on his licence from a prior speeding offence.

In the UK, drivers can be disqualified if they accumulate 12 or more penalty points within a three-year period.
