Kaduna State Government has announced an increased focus on Human Capital Development in its proposed 2026 fiscal plan, underscoring the administration’s commitment to improving the welfare and opportunities for its residents.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Planning and Budget, Mukhtar Ahmed shortly after he presented and defended the ministry’s budget proposal before the House Committee on Budget.
According to Ahmed, the 2026 budget plan places strong emphasis on key sectors such as health, education, agriculture, and infrastructure. This approach aligns with the government’s strategy to meet the growing needs and aspirations of citizens across the state.
A highlight of the proposed budget is the prioritization of Ward Development Projects. Each of Kaduna State’s 255 wards is expected to benefit from projects valued at 100 million Naira in the coming year, aimed at promoting balanced and inclusive development at the grassroots level.

Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Bureau of Statistics and Kaduna State Residents Registration Agency also appeared before the committee. They defended their budget proposals, which focus on enhancing data collection and resident registration systems to support effective planning and development across the state.
In response, Peter Agite, Chairman of the House Committee on Planning and Budget, also member representing Kachia constituency assured that the State Assembly remains committed to a thorough review and harmonization of the budget. He emphasized the importance of ensuring its timely passage and early implementation to benefit Kaduna State residents.
On the other hand, the Kaduna state house committee on Education, member representing Zaria constituency, Mahmud Ismaila, has assured the Kaduna state citizens of quality education.
The Committee chairman made the assurance while addressing the media shortly after the budget defence exercise by the ministry of education and its agencies.
He noted that, inline with the provisions of 2026 budget on education, the state government focused on having qualitative education, from renovation to construction of new schools in both basic, post basic, and also in the state tertiary institutions.
The proposed budget now awaits further legislative processes as stakeholders continue to engage in consultations geared towards finalizing the 2026 fiscal plan.
