The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, has stressed the need for strong policy coordination and strategic planning to achieve Nigeria’s economic targets.
Welcoming the new Minister of State.for Budget and Economic Planning, Doris Uzoka-Anite, Bagudu reaffirmed the goal of growing the economy to $1 trillion by 2030 through 7% annual growth, guided by the 2026–2030 National Development Plan.
He said the ministry will coordinate policies, align development plans, and drive investment priorities, noting key focus areas such as security funding, infrastructure, and tackling illegal activities in the extractive sector. He also highlighted strengthened international partnerships, including upgraded ties with China.

The Minister of State of Budget and Economic Planning, Uzoka-Anite, in her remarks said private sector investment must drive 95% of economic growth, urging the ministry to lead the Renewed Hope programme.
She expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu can achieve the $1 trillion target through ongoing reforms.
She said, “We are confident that your distinguished experience in public service, finance, and economic management will further strengthen the work of the Ministry as we continue to advance the Government’s economic reform agenda and improve the quality of national planning and budgeting.”

She hoped that her insights, guidance, and engagement would add value to the work of the ministry and its agencies, noting that her presence would undoubtedly help strengthen the collective capacity of the leadership team as the management continues to deliver on the Ministry’s mandate in support of Mr President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
