Bulgaria’s state and political leaders have been in self-isolation after Parliament Speaker Nikola Minchev tested positive for COVID-19, authorities said.

The measure was taken after Minchev tested positive, hours after a meeting of the country’s Consultative Council on National Security (CCNS), where he participated together with President Rumen Radev, Prime Minister Kiril Petkov and other high officials.

President Radev and the representatives of his team who took part in the meeting have isolated themselves, the press office of the President said in a statement.

“Everyone is in good health.

“Measures have been taken for the normal functioning of the presidential institution.”

Meanwhile, the Government Information Service said Petkov and the head of his political cabinet Lena Borislavova have also isolated themselves.

Headed by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, CCNS is a consultative body on matters of national security. Its meeting was dedicated to the integration of the Western Balkans into the European Union.
