The Nigerian Code of Conduct Bureau in collaboration with the National lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), has sensitised public officers on the need for compliance with assets declaration and code of conduct.

The sensitisation took place during a one-day workshop on Strict Compliance with Assets Declaration and Code of Conduct for Public Officers, held in Abuja.

Addressing the participants, the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau, Professor Mohammed Isah said that the essence of training of the officers was to create awareness on what is expected from them.

He said that ”there are fourteen codes of conduct which every public officer must adhere to…I want to urge the participants of NLTF to strictly adhere to the 14 CODES guiding every public officer on how to discharge their duties in honesty and transparency. We are here to enlighten all the public officers on what the government expects from them since they serve as custodians of public wealth.”

The Executive Chairman, National Lottery Trust Fund, Mr Bello Maigari, said that the participants should abide by the code of conduct for public officers as stated in the Nigerian Constitution.

Mr. Maigari said; “We should know that when public officers adhere to the codes, Nigeria will be free of corruption which in turn would bring national development.”

Thanking the Bureau for collaborating with them, Maigari also urged the participants to pass the knowledge acquired to their colleagues at their Zonal offices.

Over 32 participants attended the workshop.
