Burkina Faso and Togo signs a cooperation agreement in Lome to promote air safety and security.
The bilateral agreement touches on search operations and rescue of planes in distress within the airspace of both countries.
The documents were signed by Togo’s Infrastructure and Transport Minister Ninsao Gnofam and his Burkina Faso counterpart Souleymane Soulama.
According to the ministers, the agreement signed was a result of negotiations that began between the two neighbouring countries last year.
“It will not only facilitate easy movement of planes between the two airspaces, but with the agreement, in case of an incident or a plane accident in Togo, Burkina Faso technicians can quickly be summoned to come and help their Togolese colleagues in resolving the incident,” Gnofam said.
The two countries are members of the International Civil Aviation Organization.
