The Lagos State by-election for Surulere I Federal Constituency, in Nigeria’s House of Representatives has kicked off with accreditation and voting concurrently.
Electoral officials reported earlier at some of the polling station visited by Voice of Nigeria and the ambience was calm and peaceful.
Although, the turn out was low, as of the time of filing this report, but electorates are coming out in trickles to cast their ballot, as they hope for a hitch-free exercise.
Some of the electorates who spoke with Voice of Nigeria lauded the electoral umpire for early arrival and working seamlessly to ensure a good outing.
Vehicular movements were restricted only around the Surulere axis while others roads are free of man and vehicular activities.
The seat in the lower legislative chamber became vacant after President Bola Tinubu appointed Femi Gbajabiamila, immediate-past speaker of the House, as his Chief of Staff.
Twelve candidates are contesting to replace the former speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.
Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC is conducting bye elections in twenty-six States across the country.
