The Niger State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Most Rev. Dr. Bulus Dauda Yohanna, has urged Christians to use the yuletide season as a time of prayer for the success of leaders in the country.

In his Christmas message themed “The Hour Has Come, Wake Up!” (Romans 13:11), Bishop Yohanna emphasized the importance of praying for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the state Governor, Hon. Umar Mohammed Bago.

The CAN Chairman, who is also the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, said it is good for Christians to use the festive period considering its importance and pray for the leaders’ courage and wisdom to navigate the nation through its current challenges.

Specifically, he encouraged support for Governor Bago’s “New Niger” agenda, emphasizing that waking up from slumber is an urgent call for everyone.

While extending congratulations for the Christmas celebration, Bishop Yohanna called on leaders within the Christian community to overcome personal interests and work towards the common good.

He cautioned against actions that could jeopardize the goals of CAN and the essence of the Gospel.

“As Christians come together with families and friends to celebrate, the message resonates with a call for mindfulness, unity, and a collective effort to address the challenges facing the nation.”

Bishop Yohana also urged Christians to plan their journeys meticulously, considering the prevailing situations. He emphasized the need for vigilance and careful choice of transportation methods.

The CAN Chairman also reminded Christians to remember those affected by insecurity challenges and called for prayers for individuals held captive by bandits and criminals, urging compassion for the less fortunate in society.
