Candidate Substitution: Nasarawa APC seeks National Chairman’s intervention
Amina Mohammed, Lafia
The Nasarawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the National Chairman of the party, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, to look into the alleged illegal substitution of candidates that emerged from the recently held primaries.
The State Secretary of APC, Mr. Aliyu Bello, made the call in Lafia when North-Central Vice Chairman of APC, Mu’azu Bawa-Rijau, led a team for a meeting with stakeholders of the party.
Bello advised those who lost the primaries of the party to accept the outcome of the election in good faith and work for the success of the party in the 2023 elections.
He however faulted situations where someone would lose the primaries but shortchange candidates who won the election.
He said that the names of some candidates who won elections from Nasarawa State were changed at the National Secretariat.
“I am very sure that the National Chairman of our great party is not aware of it, but some persons at the National Secretariat were doing it with an ulterior motive.
“The National Chairman should set up the machinery to investigate what has happened to increase the fortune of the party in the next election,” he said.
Responding, the Vice Chairman expressed gratitude to the stakeholders for availing themselves and speaking their minds at the meeting.
He said that all that was said would be taken to the appropriate quarters to find a lasting solution to it.
The North-Central Vice Chairman of the party also expressed confidence that the party would retain Nasarawa State and Nigeria in the 2023 election.
Voice of Nigeria reports that the meeting was attended by the state working committee members of APC, Local Government Areas officials of the party as well as Assembly members, LGAs Chairmen among others.
