Cast Nigerian Actors in ‘Things Fall Apart’ Remake – Mike Nliam
Renowned actor and producer Mike Nliam has called on the Hollywood producers of the TV adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s classic, “Things Fall Apart,” to consider casting talented Nigerian actors in key roles for the series.
Nliam contended that this collaboration would not only enrich the cultural authenticity of the classic but also offer valuable networking opportunities for Nigerian actors to connect with their Hollywood peers.
The actor made the assertion following reports that Idris Elba’s production company, 22Summers and A24 will be co- producing a TV adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s 1987 novel.
The Hollywood actor will be playing the lead role of Okonkwo with David Oyelowo serving as executive producer.
According to Nliam , “while Idris Elba will excel in the role of Okonkwo, I urge the producers to incorporate talented Nollywood actors into prominent roles.”

“Things Fall Apart” is a part of the English literature course in many universities across the globe, and it has regularly featured in the top 100 novels list of all time.
The classic centers on Okonkwo, portrayed by Elba, a warrior dedicated to preserving his tribe and culture in the face of British colonizers’ encroachment. This iconic role was originally played by Nollywood actor Pete Edochie in the 1987 NTA adaptation of the all-time best-selling novel.
