CDI Calls For Reappraisal of Defence Strategies

The Continuous reappraisal of defence strategies, operational tactics and methods of intelligence gallery have been identified as key to efficient tackling of security challenges in the country. 

The Chief of Defence Intelligence Major General Samuel Adebayo stated this at the Defence Intelligence Agency’s maiden retreat held at the Nigerian Army Resource Center, Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

He said the main purpose of the retreat was to find ways of tackling the security challenges in the country and to achieve sustainable national security and development.

The topic “Contemporary Threat Assessment and National Development: The Role of the DIA in the Nigerian Intelligence Architecture”, was Considered for the lecture and discussion today.

The lecture which is to be delivered by a seasoned Senior Officer will be followed by an interactive session. At the end of the day, we would have gained significant insights on how to reposition the Agency towards a more solid pedestal, in addressing the myriad security challenges bedeviling our dear country and to also achieve sustainable national security growth.”

General Adebayo said the retreat served as an avenue to identify new lessons and challenges and to discuss modalities of overcoming them. 

The DIA Chief appreciated the Federal Government, the Ministry of Defence and Defence Headquarters for the financial and institutional support extended to the Agency and promised that the Agency would remain alive to its duties and be at the forefront of the government’s efort to proactively identify and deal with emerging threats that portend danger to the nation.
