The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, says the armed forces are re-evaluating their operational strategies to prevent further bandit attacks on communities in Plateau State and other areas under Operation Safe Haven.

General Musa disclosed this during an operational visit to the Headquarters of Operation Safe Haven in Jos, Plateau State.

He stresses the need for adaptable military tactics in response to the asymmetric nature of the conflict and calls on local leaders to help isolate criminal elements to restore peace.

“We must take decisive actions to halt the cycle of violence affecting Plateau and neighbouring states experiencing similar challenges,” he states.

The Defence Chief urges a renewed sense of responsibility among field commanders and vows to hold any officer found neglecting duty accountable. He also promises to strengthen logistics and improve operational capabilities.

Commander of Operation Safe Haven and General Officer Commanding 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Eyitayo Folusho Oyinlola, outlines key achievements despite recent challenges, pledging continued efforts to protect vulnerable communities.

He notes improved collaboration with other security agencies for enhanced intelligence sharing, stating that “Operation Safe Haven will not relent until the peace process embarked upon is completed with visible evidence across the entire joint area of operation.”

Earlier, General Musa visits the Nigerian Army Medical Centre at Tigi and Sector 6 in Jebbu Bindi, Riyom LGA, where he pledges support to upgrade medical services for troops and surrounding communities.

Addressing troops in Jebbu Bindi, he urges vigilance and professionalism, stressing the importance of community engagement in sustaining peace and security.
