The Annual General Meeting and Conference of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Nigeria has concluded with the election of a new National Executive and the presentation of awards to distinguished members for outstanding professional achievements.
The newly elected President, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, pledged to consolidate the gains of the outgoing administration and pursue legislative backing to strengthen the Institute’s mandate.
“It will be greater. We have a lot of plans. We commend the outgoing president—she has done well. It’s a challenge, but we will make her happy and make the Institute stronger,” said Dr. Oyeyemi, a former Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps.
He explained that one of his top priorities will be securing a legal framework for the Institute, noting that CILT currently operates without formal legislative recognition.
“Presently, CILT does not have legislative backing. We will work within the next few years to get it done so that all other achievements can be accomplished,” he stated.
Dr. Oyeyemi further assured that his administration would re-energise membership across logistics and transport agencies nationwide to make CILT “stronger, effective, and efficient.”

Outgoing President Reflects on Four-Year Tenure
In her valedictory address, the outgoing President and Chair of Council, Mrs. Mfon Usoro, reflected on her four-year stewardship, themed “Reform and Transform CILT Nigeria.”
“Our campaign motto when we boarded this ship four years ago was to ‘Reform and Transform CILT Nigeria’—to strengthen governance, enhance accountability, and restore the pride of membership,” she recalled.
She highlighted the Institute’s strategic partnerships with institutions such as the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, the Bureau of Public Procurement, and the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management, noting that these collaborations elevated CILT’s national and international relevance.
Mrs. Usoro also reported significant growth in the quality and inclusiveness of membership.
“We established a formidable, inclusive team of visionaries, innovators, and dreamers, comprising serving and retired university professors, industry titans, serving and retired military officers, Next Generation, and Women in Logistics across all six geopolitical zones,” she said.
On financial accountability, she noted that the Institute’s revenue improved significantly year-on-year.
“Accountability and transparency have been the watchwords of this administration. We are handing over an Institute that is stronger, more transparent, and more respected than when we took over,” she concluded.

Recognitions and Renewed Commitment
Several award recipients described the recognition as both humbling and motivating.
Dr. Kevin Okona, Acting Rector of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron, who was honoured at the event, said: “This recognition is a call to higher responsibility. It means that what we do quietly is seen and valued. We’re ready to do more for CILT, for our institution, and for the industry.”
Mrs. Chinwe Ezenwa, Founder of Lelook Bags and recipient of the Legacy Award, expressed gratitude, saying: “It means everything. To be recognised like this while I’m alive makes me happy and honoured—it reminds me that impact never goes unnoticed.”
Hajia Moji Jimoh, who received an Excellence Award, described it as “a pleasant surprise and a new beginning,” while Maureen Afia, a Young Professional, commended CILT for uniting industry experts and inspiring young professionals.
Prof. Geraldine Okeudo, a multiple awardee, added: “I’m proud of CILT. This recognition affirms that my contributions have been seen, and I will always make the Institute proud.”
