Chief Of Army Staff Lauds NAOWA Remarkable Transformation

The Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has applauded the giant strides recorded by the President of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) Mariya Lagbaja, stressing that the association has witnessed a remarkable transformation within one year of her leadership.

General Lagbaja gave the commendation while delivering a Goodwill Message at the First Anniversary of MARIA Lagbaja as President Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) and Nigerian Army Soldiers Wives Association (NASWA), at the Army Headquarters Command Officers Mess, Abuja.

The Army Chief applauded his wife’s purposeful and impactful leadership of NAOWA and mentoring of NASWA emphasizing that the women have been the bedrock of the men’s successes, providing unwavering support and strength as they confront insecurity head-on.

“Going around formations and units of the NA, I have met with strong, industrious, and supportive NAOWA and NASWA members who have undoubtedly supported their spouses. Many of our women have evolved into strong decision-makers running the home front effectively while the spouses are on the frontlines, on courses, and even lost in the rhythm of our busy peacetime rear units, I thank my dear wife, the President of NAOWA, for her leadership and inspiration” stated COAS.

He applauded some of the initiatives and projects of the association under the present leadership which include the reconstruction of the NAOWA headquarters, the NAOWA Guest House and Events Centre which are undergoing significant facelifts and are nearing completion.

The Chief however challenged NAOWA to expand its activities in close concert with NASWA to accommodate wider participation by our women as it enters its second year in office. He assured NAOWA of Army Headquarters’ support in achieving more as it looks ahead.

The President Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association Mariya Lagbaja in her address acknowledged the dedication and hard work of every NAOWA member, whose unwavering support has been the backbone of her success.

She expressed commitment and dedication to ensuring that NAOWA sustains its legacies by upgrading and improving its assets and institutions.

The 23rd President of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association stated that the celebration, which has the theme, “The Journey So Far,” has been organized as an avenue for us to reflect on the remarkable journey we have undertaken together, and to plan a progressive course for the future

While highlighting some of the projects executed under her leadership so far, Mrs. Lagbaja said “Over the past twelve months, we have embarked on numerous outreaches, programmes, and initiatives aimed at enhancing the welfare of our members, uplifting our communities, and supporting the humanitarian efforts of the Nigerian Army”.

“I have also commissioned several projects initiated by some NAOWA Chairpersons which effectively demonstrates that NAOWA presiding members at all levels have fully embraced and keyed into my vision of “Sustaining Legacies Through Unwavering Commitment to Unity and Service for the Betterment of Humanity.”

Highlight of the celebration, was the launching of a project for all NAOWA members tagged “Next Level”.

The initiative according to Mrs Lagbaja aims to further empower and uplift our members, providing new opportunities for personal and professional growth.
