China’s Honor to Invest $10 Billion in AI Devices
Chinese smartphone manufacturer Honor has unveiled plans to invest $10 billion in artificial intelligence (AI)-powered devices, marking a significant push into the AI sector.
The announcement, made during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, underscores Honor’s ambition to integrate AI-driven capabilities into its products and compete with major tech giants.
Honor CEO George Zhao stated that the company’s focus would be on developing AI-powered smartphones, smart home devices, and wearables to enhance user experience and efficiency. He highlighted the role of AI in improving device performance, personalisation, and security.
“AI is no longer just a feature; it is becoming the core of future smart devices. Our investment will enable us to lead in AI innovation and provide users with an intelligent and seamless experience,” Zhao said.
The investment will be spread across research and development, strategic partnerships, and infrastructure improvements. Honor also revealed plans to collaborate with AI startups and research institutions to accelerate advancements in AI-driven technology.

As part of its AI push, Honor showcased its latest flagship smartphone featuring advanced AI capabilities, including real-time language translation, enhanced camera functionalities, and predictive user assistance. Honor’s move comes amid growing competition in the AI-driven consumer electronics market, with companies like Apple, Samsung, and Google integrating AI more deeply into their ecosystems.
The $10 billion investment signals Honor’s commitment to staying at the forefront of this technological shift.
The company aims to roll out its first wave of AI-powered devices later this year, with a focus on global expansion and capturing a larger market share beyond China.
