The Christian Community in Gombe State, under the umbrella of the Christian Association of Nigeria, has organised a Thanksgiving Inauguration Prayer in honour of the Second Term Inauguration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, and his Deputy, Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau.
The interdenominational prayer was organised at the Christian Association of Nigeria, Gombe, CAN Centre with former Commissioners and other former political office holders in attendance.
The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Gombe Chapter, Reverend Father Alphonsus Shinga, explained that the event was organised to appreciate God for the successful completion of the first tenure of Governor Yahaya and his Deputy, Dr. Jatau.
“We organised this Inauguration thanksgiving prayer to appreciate God for the successful completion of the first tenure of this administration of Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and his Deputy and for the success of Inauguration for the second tenure which comes up tomorrow,” said Reverend Father Shinga.
He said the event was also to pray for the success of the Inauguration of the President-elect, and all those who would be inaugurated on Monday, May 29th.

The Gombe State CAN Chairman said he had high hopes for Governor Yahaya’s second term, while promising to support the governor and his administration through prayers for him to succeed.
The Deputy Governor commended the Christian Community in the state for appreciating God for Gombe State and for praying for the success of the inauguration at the national and state levels.
Dr. Jatau said prayers were necessary ingredients for one to succeed because leadership entailed shouldering one’s own personal problems alongside those of the people being led.
“Let me begin by saying that the Governor is aware of this prayer meeting. I and Prof. Kalho had to excuse him in a meeting to be here. Therefore I bring his greetings and goodwill to this gathering,” said Dr. Jatau
He urged all Christians to pray without ceasing because Christianity is all about prayers.
“We should continue to intensify prayers, especially for our leaders because leadership is very difficult. Leadership entails bearing other people’s problems and adding them to your own,” the Gombe State Deputy Governor added.
“Let us therefore continue to pray for our leaders at all levels to succeed in meeting up with the responsibilities bestowed on them.“
He appreciated the prayers offered for success in the State before, during and after the elections, saying some of the states have it so tough, some results were declared inconclusive, but in that Gombe State was successful.
Delivering the Sermon, Pastor Chris Godobe of God’s Glorious Tabernacle of Witness, Tunfure-Gombe, spoke on the topic “Responsibility and Accountability”.
According to Pastor Godobe, who is also the CAN Vice Chairman, Gombe Chapter, a good leader is one with exemplary leadership qualities in his conduct, as well as one who fears God and has the full confidence of his followers.
He further explained that a good leader must be someone with a great performance index, noting that even though they are not gods, people believe they have solutions to every challenge.
The Gombe State CAN Vice Chairman said accepting any responsibility means depositing accountability as collateral, but prayed that God Almighty would guide those given responsibilities and to be inaugurated on Monday, May 29th, with the fear of God.
The Program featured prayers for Nigeria, Gombe State, Leaders at all levels and CAN as well as songs rendition by the CAN Choir.
