The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has expressed unconditional love and appreciation for the people of Nigeria especially the Southeast in the season of Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year festivities.

The group stated that the passion with which the people of the southeast celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ is by their warm reception of visitors in their land and an indication of their godliness.

MACBAN National Deputy Director, Alhaji Siddiki Gidado, made the statement in a Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year message he made available to journalists in Awka, Anambra State.

MACBAN leader said, “I, Alhaji Siddiki Gidado, a chieftain of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) residents in Southeast Nigeria, heartily wish Nigerian Christians a happy Christmas, Boxing Day and a prosperous New Year.

“It is yet that festive season of Christmas and New Year when the global community of Christians and all people of goodwill rejoice in commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ and the turn of a New Year, which suggests renewal of hope for a better life going forward.

“My experience over the very long years of my living in the Southeast shows the importance people in the Southeast attach to this festive period. It provides the highest opportunity for family reunions as people travel from far and wide across the globe to share the warmth and camaraderie attendant to the activities usually lined up for the season.

“It is therefore a special season for the Igbo of the Southeast, whose indiscriminate sense of hospitality manifests more in their boundless fellowship with natives and strangers in their mist.

“It is notable that no other singular season provides our people in Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association of Nigeria, Southeast Zone, an opportunity for bulk sales of our cattle. For this, we anticipate Christmas with great hope, as we expect our Igbo brothers and sisters to return in their numbers and patronise our cattle business for the major supply of their protein needs through the season.

“This symbiotic relationship between us and the Igbo natives signposts the urbane civility and communality the leadership of the Nigerian nation propagates.

“We of MACBAN Southeast Zone wish all the Southeasterners coming home for Christmas and New Year journey mercies. We wish them joyous celebrations throughout their stay home.

“May the experiences of the season provide and sustain the bond the Southeast and Nigeria need for a greater society amenable to unhindered growth and development. Happy Christmas and a prosperous new year to everyone.”
