The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has reiterated its commitment to decisively deal with those perpetrating acts of sabotage against the nation’s economy.

Speaking at the National Headquarters of the Corps in Abuja, the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad Commander, Deputy Commandant Appolos Dandaura, relayed that those dealing illegally in petroleum products, vandalizing oil pipelines, siphoning crude, and operating illegal refineries, amongst others, will not find a place to breathe as the Squad is poised to smoke them out of their hiding place.

He narrated the discovery which according to him, was hinged on sustained intelligence tip-off that suspected vandals had punctured a major delivery pipeline that supplies crude oil by connecting valves and siphoning huge quantities of crude in the trunk line in the Komkom community in Oyigbo local government area of Rivers State.

“Operatives of CG’s SIS upon arrival at the crime scene, observed that the unscrupulous elements have tampered with the pipelines by connecting valves and a large long Industrial hose measuring about 700 meters which was being used to siphon crude from the source.

“It was also observed that there were illegal connection points temporarily disconnected and the operating company was alerted to clamp the vandalized pipeline immediately.”
