As part of efforts to equip personnel with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform their roles professionally and effectively, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, has trained fifty officers of the Command’s Provost unit.
The five days refresher training on ethical standards which was designed to rejig the FCT Command’s Provost unit took place at the command headquarters in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
Declaring the training closed, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, FCT Command, Dr.olusola Odumosu explained that the training was one in the series of training programmes lined up to reposition his personnel for greater productivity.
“The training being concluded today was necessitated by my determination to develop new competencies and enhance existing ones through the needed knowledge, which ultimately leads to improved performances and personal growth of officers and men of the unit.
“Taking into cognisance the role and significance of the unit in any paramilitary setting, it is a smart way towards fulfilling the directives of the Commandant General , Dr.Ahmed Abubakar Audi, to reposition the FCT Command,” he said.
The Commandant charged the participants to apply the requisite knowledge and skills acquired during the training in their day to day activities to improve the quality of service of officers within the Command.
He further urged them to demonstrate the ability to be fair, dispassionate in their approaches to handling issues and solving challenges with a view to elevating professional and ethical standards within the FCT Command.
Odumosu however expressed satisfaction with the quality of the training offered by the National Headquarters Provost unit, led by Kolawole Babatunde, who facilitated the programme and most importantly, thanked the Commandant General for his approval and unwavering support everytime the Command came calling.
The five days training featured drills, intensive lectures and practical demonstration on provost duties which include but not limited to maintenance of law and order within the Command, by enforcement of discipline and standards, management of access control, among others.
