The Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki in Ebonyi State, Southeast Nigeria, Donatus Oluwa, has urged Christians all over the world to have a positive attitudinal change in all they do on daily routines.

Oluwa disclosed this in an interview with Voice of Nigeria to mark the 2026 Ash Wednesday feast in Abakaliki, the state capital.

The Vicar General encourage all Christians and non-Christians to always love one another.

“For Catholic Church, today is Ash Wednesday, it is a forty days praying and fasting with Jesus Christ in preparation for his ministry. It is a time for repentance and time to ask for forgiveness of sins.

“We don’t only impose Ash, but we fast and do charity,” Oluwa added.

He urged both Christians and Muslims to continue to live in righteousness.

“As you can see, both Christians and Muslims started their fasting today.”
