The Senior Priest of St. Bartholomew’s Cathedral Anglican Church in Kubwa, Abuja, Venerable Bitrus Habila, has called on Christians to seek God first in the new year.

Habila gave the charge during his New Year message where he took his text from Mathew chapter 6 from verses 31 through 34.

“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own”.

He also urged Christians not to despise anybody for God can change any situation for good.

“No matter the situation one is, he should have hope for a better tomorrow as long as God is in control of such a person’s life,” he said.

He stressed that they should not deceive men and women to get what they want.

The Clergy admonished the Christian faithful that in 2025, any man who seeks Jesus as their own and finisher of his faith will finish well.

He said, “Making New Year resolutions is one thing but keeping them is another thing.”
