The Force Commander (FC) Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) Major General Gold Chibuisi embarked on a familiarisation visit to Sector 2 MNJTF Bagasola Chad accompanied by the Deputy Force Commander (DFC) Brigadier General Assoualai Blama and other senior officers.
A statement issued by Chief Military Public Information Officer MNJTF, Lieutenant Colonel Kamarudeen Adegoke said the Commander Sector 2 MNJTF Brigadier General Youssouf Mahamat Itno led the visiting Commander to the conference room where he received a brief covering operational activities, achievements and challenges.
In a remark, the Force Commander expressed his appreciation and commended the troops for their commitment towards ending insurgency in the Lake Chad Basin region, urging the Sector not to relent in its efforts.
He noted that the massive surrender of BH/ISWAP Terrorists and their families which has also been reflected in enhanced social and economic activities signify an end in sight of terrorists’ activities in the Lake Chad Basin region.
The Force Commander stated that the MNJTF will not rest on its oars in order to bring total peace to the region. The Sector Commander appreciated the Force Commander for the visit and promised to continue activities geared toward the realization of the MNJTF’s mandate.
In another development, the Force Commander also paid a familiarisation visit to Sector 4 MNJTF Diffa (Niger) where he was received by the Commander of Sector 4 Colonel Major Mamman Sani Kiaou, and was adequately briefed on the activities of the Sector.
The Commander remarked that the Sector has performed creditably well and applauded the Sector’s efforts in degrading the capability of the terrorists in the area. He commended the standard of discipline of troops of the Sector which he said was evidenced in the glaring operational achievements recorded by the Sector.
He further urged them to sustain the tempo until the insurgents were completely routed out of the Lake Chad Basin region while praising the troops of the Sector for being Professional and responsive in discharging their duties. He equally assured them of the continuous support of the MNJTF.
Earlier, the Commander Sector 4 Colonel Maj Mamman Sani Kiaou congratulated the FC on his appointment and said the visit has encouraged them to do more in the quest to end the activities of terrorists in the Lake Chad Basin region. He added that the Sector will not spare any efforts at bringing total peace to the region.
While in Diffa, the FC Maj Gen GU Chibuisi visited the US Army Camp where he appreciated the US Army for its strategic partnership towards the fight against terrorism and insurgency in the Lake Chad Basin region.
He asked for more cooperation and collaboration that will lead to the final clampdown on the terrorists. Captain Ney of the US Army camp in Diffa appreciated the FC for the visit and emphasized the need to work together to bring an end to terrorist activities in the area.
The FC also paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Diffa region His Excellency Smaine Younousse. Mr Younousse congratulated the FC on his appointment saying it was a well-deserved one. He urged the FC to use his wealth of experience in the ongoing fight against insurgency.
The Force Commander intimated to him that he embarked on the visit across the sectors to familiarise himself with the situation on the ground. He appreciated the Governor for his continuous support to Sector 4 MNJTF and implored him to continue providing the necessary support needed to succeed in the fight against the insurgents.
