The Chairman of the Anambra State Disability Rights Commission, Barrister Chuks Ezewuzie, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his immense commitment to the rights of individuals with disabilities.
In a statement released in Awka by Chidimma Ajemba, the commission’s public relations officer in Anambra State, Barrister Ezewuzie expressed Anambra State Government support for the President’s decision to sign the Instrument of Ratification of the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Africa.
He emphasized the importance of this historic move, highlighting that it signifies a major milestone in ensuring inclusivity, equality and justice for people with disabilities in Nigeria and the African continent as a whole.
He further elaborated on the potential positive impact this ratification could have on the lives of countless individuals who face various forms of discrimination and barriers due to their disabilities.
Barr Ezewuzie also commended President Tinubu for his recognition of the need to align Nigeria with international standards for the protection and promotion of disability.
He expressed hopes that this act of ratification would catalyze positive change, fostering an environment where individuals with disabilities are given equal opportunities, and access to education, healthcare, employment, and societal inclusion.
