Commission To Leverage Innovative Technology To Combat Corruption

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, (ICPC) has said that it is committed to leveraging innovative and cutting-edge technology in its operational framework to combat corruption in the country.

The Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Musa Aliyu stated this while speaking to Journalists at a Press interaction held in Abuja Nigeria’s capital.

Aliyu emphasized that combating corruption requires a collaborative, multi-sectoral approach that encourages cooperation adding that the commission will integrate innovative approaches and cutting-edge technology in its operational framework from leveraging data analytics for efficient resource management to employing advance digital tools for effective corruption detection.

“I am deeply committed to realising the vision of Nigeria where response of Integrity and accountability are not mere ideals but are deeply woven into the very fabric of our society. The vision aligns seamlessly with the resolute stand of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration against corruption,” he said.

Dr. Aliyu further said that the commission is determined to strengthen its legal frameworks to support prosecutions and maintain a solid legal foundation for accountability.

“As the new chairman of ICPC, the key focus of my tenure is to foster collaborations, recognising that corruption multi faceted nature  affects every level of the society.

Our strategy involves engaging diverse stakeholders including the media, the civil society, private sector and international partners to prospective  expertise and human resources,” Aliyu said.

The ICPC boss said the  commission is committed to fostering collaborations with media professionals to combat corruption in the country.

He emphasized the importance for media professionals to uphold objectivity in their reporting, encouraging them to maintain accountability and accuracy in their coverage.

”We are dedicated to instilling a culture of ethics and integrity within our public service by enhancing institutional transparency and accountability. We aim to create an environment where corruption finds no fertile ground to thrive,” he further stated.

While Speaking, the spokeperson to the commision, Mrs Azuka Ogugua said that ICPC recognizes the pivotal role the media plays in shaping public opinion and awareness.

“Since the year 2020, ICPC, has consistently carried the media along, conducting various training, awareness sessions, capacity building to enhance mutual understanding and coorperation,” Ogugua said.
