Communal Clashes: Ebonyi State inaugurates Judicial Panel of Inquiry

In an effort to ensure that peace returns to Effium and Ezza Effium Community in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Governor David Umahi, has inaugurated a seven-man panel of inquiry to look into the crisis.

The State’s Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Kelechi Igwe during the inauguration ceremony in Abakaliki the state capital charged the members of the committee to be dedicated to the purpose with which they were set up.

He said the committee is given six weeks to conclude their jobs and to come up with a lasting solution to the crisis.

“You are to determine the remote and immediate causes of the crisis, to determine the level of damage on lives and properties, he said.

The Deputy Governor said they must also determine who were involved in the crisis.

“Another major thing the committee members should unravel is to know who was, directly and indirectly, involved in the mayhem, the Deputy Governor added.

He said the members of the committee were carefully selected to bring lasting peace in Ezza Effium and Effium Community.

The members of the panel are; Justice Omaka Elekwa- Chairman,  Barrister Gilbert Okorie-Secretary, Eze Chukwu Agwu-, Reverend Father Moses Ogudu, Reverend Father Okoro Agha and Barrister Nkem Chukwu.
