The Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams has called for unity between the Yoruba residents and Batonu people at Chikanda in Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State,

The call became necessary due to the recent crisis between the Yoruba and Batonu people at Chikanda in Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State, that led to injuries and destruction of property,
Adams reaction was contained in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Aderemi, saying the crisis was uncalled for, insisting that the crisis was very unfortunate.
According to him, “There is need for us to embrace unity in Yoruba land. We will not allow any section of the country to set Kwara state ablaze.
“The crisis  if not we’ll managed could have spread to other parts of the state and that will be too dangerous for the peaceful coexistence of the people of the state.
“I am appealing to the Kwara State Government to look into the causes of the crisis. That is why it is  very important for us to  address the root causes of the crisis and work out the best approach to settle the crisis before it degenerates into further crisis.
“Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq should intervene in the ensuing crisis. Those involved should be called to order.
“The safety of the people in the affected communities is very important that is the best way to promote peace and tranquility in the local government and the state in general.”
Meanwhile, peace has returned  to the communities where the crisis erupted particularly in Chikanda an International border town, markets and other commercial activities have resumed .
