The Kaduna state Governor Uba Sani has begun a pilot project to compensate communities whose lands were seized without compensation by previous administrations.
The Director-General of Kaduna Geographic and Information Services (KadGIS), Bashir Ibrahim, who delivered the documents to beneficiaries at their homes, conveyed the Governor’s goodwill and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to justice.
“This initiative, directed by Governor Uba Sani, is to compensate communities whose lands were taken without due process,” Ibrahim stated, adding that Babban Saura had been in a seven-year dispute until the Governor intervened.
Under the directive, affected residents received their rightful allocations with a 30% zero premium.
With over 4,000 land offers already signed under the initiative, the programme underscores Governor Sani’s resolve to correct past injustices.
Ibrahim reassured residents that the government remains committed to protecting their rights, emphasizing, “We are here to serve the people, not to demolish their homes.”
The Babban Saura in Millennium City indigenous families expressed joy as they finally received certified land offer letters from the Kaduna State Government.
For many beneficiaries, the moment was overwhelming. Some trembled with gratitude, while others were left speechless after years of struggle.
Many hailed Governor Sani’s leadership and thanked Ibrahim for delivering the land offers directly to their homes.
In addition to the Babban Saura compensation, Governor Uba Sani’s administration has made significant strides in resolving longstanding land disputes across Kaduna.
The initiative has already seen the distribution of allocation letters to 1,133 landowners along the Rigasa-Mando highway as part of the Western sector development plan. Over the past 17 months, the government has amicably resolved 347 land disputes, providing 203 alternative plots to claimants.
Furthermore, in a move that underscores the administration’s commitment to justice, more lands previously revoked by past administrations: including two parcels in Kaduna city, were returned to the family of the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha.
Stakeholders insist that these actions reinforce the governor’s determination to right historical wrongs and ensure fairness in land administration across the state.
As the project expands, more Kaduna residents stand to benefit, reinforcing the governor’s commitment to justice and equitable development.
