An international firm, Riby Market Place limited in collaboration with Gbenga Aiyeremi Foundation has supported nine Cooperative Society groups with cash grant awards in Yola the Adamawa State Capital.
The grants are set aside to support internally displaced persons, widows, and vulnerable group to establish small businesses and create wealth.
Head of Growth and Programme, RIBY, Afolabi Salami said the sum of one million naira was set aside to support cooperative society groups in Adamawa and Borno States and so far, N600,000 has been disbursed in Adamawa state and the remaining N400,000 will be disbursed in Borno state within the week.
He said the two organisations will monitor the Groups’ management of the funds, while providing training on building their capacity and accessing funding.
Also at the event, the Programme Coordinator of Gbenga Aiyeremi Foundation, Dayo Victor they are committed to supporting micro business owners in Nigeria because the founder, Gbenga Aiyeremi has passed through the journey of entrepreneurship and understands the challenges small businesses face in the country.
“There are business owners who are currently in IDPs camps and have no means of going back to business, as a way of given back to the society our foundation will see how we can support them to bring them back to business,” he said.
“Our next line of action is to intensify effort because we have seen that the need in the northeastern region is more than we expected,” he added.
Meanwhile, the beneficiaries appreciated the effort kindof the organisations and called on other well meaning groups to emulate their example.
