Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Commission has unveiled technology driven reforms and a strategic partnership with Google to enhance service delivery and strengthen business registration processes.
The Registrar General of CAC, Mr. Hussani Magaji, announced this during the Commission’s 35th anniversary celebration themed: Upholding Public Trust Through Excellent Service Delivery in Abuja.
He recalled the Commission’s modest beginnings, noting that business registration processes were once centralised and largely manual, and highlighted CAC’s transformation into a global digital service provider offering round the clock services to Nigerians and investors worldwide.
Magaji disclosed that the Commission has deployed artificial intelligence to improve operational efficiency despite initial implementation challenges.
“In our commitment to global best practice, CAC has taken a bold step by deploying artificial intelligence to further improve turnaround time and service delivery. The transition to an AI driven portal came with disruptions and temporary setbacks. Nevertheless, I sincerely appreciate our stakeholders and customers for their patience,” he said.
He noted that the adoption of artificial intelligence became necessary due to the rising volume of business registration requests and customer enquiries.
“CAC now receives close to 10,000 business registration requests daily. In addition, our complaint management system handles an average of 5,000 inquiries every single day. Only AI can effectively complement human capacity with the required speed, accuracy and precision,” Magaji stated.

As part of the anniversary activities, the Commission signed a collaboration agreement with global technology firm Google to strengthen its digital infrastructure.
“Today we will witness the signing of a letter of collaboration between CAC and Google aimed at strengthening our technology framework and improving service delivery. Google brings global expertise and technological support that will further enhance our system,” he said.
Magaji also unveiled a redesigned website equipped with innovative tools to support business owners and stakeholders.
“The new website introduces two groundbreaking features. It has an AI Lawyer. Users can now generate and reserve scalable business names directly from our website with ease, speed and convenience,” he explained.
To commemorate the anniversary, the Registrar General announced several corporate social responsibility initiatives and staff welfare packages, including free business name registration for 3,500 small businesses, scholarships for six best corporate law students, donation of 120 mattresses to an internally displaced persons camp, support for orphanages, a commemorative staff bonus of 25 percent of one month’s gross salary, as well as special car and housing loans for staff.
