Corps Begins Ember Months Sensitisation Campaign in Sokoto State

The Federal Roads Safety Corps, FRSC Sokoto State Command has Flagged Off 2022 Ember Months Sensitisation Campaigns to reduce the effect of road accidents and other forms of traffic violation across the State.

Declaring the campaigns opened in Kwannawa Motor Park, the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, applauded the efforts of Command for their determination towards sensitising motorists and road users in the state.

Tambuwal who was represented by Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Akibu Dalhatu, said the campaigns would help to reduce the incident of overspeeding, and overloading among drivers.

He urged the FRSC to increase the presence of personnel on strategic highways to ensure the effective reduction of accidents.

“I challenge you to improve and increase an adequate number of personnel on our highways to ensure speedy prosecution of roads traffic offenders,” he said.

The theme of the 2022 Ember Months Sensitisation Campaign is: “Avoid Speeding, Overloading, and Unsafe Tyres To Arrive Alive.” 

The Sector Commander, Kabiru Nadabo, said the command would continue to partner with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the smooth execution of the campaigns across the State.

Nadabo urged road users and motorists to always maintain simple traffic rules to save their lives and that of their passengers.

He described the exercise as a nationwide process in which his command would do everything possible to take it to the grassroots for the overall development of rural road users.

Also in his remarks, the Sultan of Sokoto and President General Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Muhammad Sa’ad, described the exercise as apt. He said the campaign would impact positively road users and motorists.

“Campaigns of this nature would help to reduce habits of overloading and overspeeding among our road users, especially during the festive period of Ember Months,” Sultan said.

The Sultan represented by the District Head of Durbawa, Alhaji Mu’azu Yakubu Durbawa, commended the efforts of the Sector Commander for his courage in repositioning the corps in the state.

He charged the Sector Command to continue to partner with sister security operatives to reduce underage driving and other reckless activities on roads for the safety of lives.
