Council Elections: APC wins all 44 LGs in Kano

The Chairman of the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission, KANSIEC, Professor Ibrahim Sheka has declared the All Progressive Congress, ,APC as the winner of all the 44 local government Chairmanship seats contested for in the state wide election conducted on Saturday January 16th
He said the party also won all the 484 Councelorship positions in the election.
Prof. Sheka made the declaration at the KANSIEC Headquarters Sunday evening.
He said the election was peaceful, free and fair.
“The election was conducted under a peaceful atmosphere except for some  few skirmishes which is normal in an election.”
 
“I commend the State Governor Dr. Umar Ganduje for the giving the state electoral umpire the opportunity to operate independently, there by achieving the free fair and credible election,” he said.
He appreciated efforts of all the security operatives in the state for their  collaboration in making the election a hitch- free one.
He thanked the Electoral Observers and Civil Society Organisations for their keen watch over the election.
The Chairmen and Councillors after swearing in ceremony will stair activities of the third tier of government in the state for next three years.
Twelve political parties contested the grassroots election according to an earlier statement of the Chairman.
