National Examinations Council (NECO) has reiterated its commitment to zero tolerance on examination malpractices across Nigeria.
The Council’s Head of Information, Abdul Azeez Sani, said the decision was due to a report by the Authorities of Signature Television on 2nd December, on alleged exam malpractice in Fabian Kings and Queens International School, Kabala West in Kaduna State.
“Based on the Council’s zero tolerance for examination malpractice, it swung into action by flagging the centre, identifying and isolating all the candidates’ scripts for scrutiny,” Sani stated.
Investigation
The Head of Information further said that the examination body has constituted an Administrative Committee to investigate the allegation to enable it take appropriate actions.
Sani warned that the entire results of the candidates would be cancelled and the school derecognised if found culpable.
He added that the examination officials involved in the act would be prosecuted in accordance with the Examination Malpractice Decree 33 of 1999.
The National Examination Council however, commended the Authorities of the Signature Television for their interest in ensuring the sanctity of public examination and also enjoined stakeholders to emulate this gesture.
