Coup in Niger: PDP Governors Caution ECOWAS Against Military Action

The thirteen governors under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have cautioned the ECOWAS against the use of force to oust the coup leaders in Niger Republic.
After their meeting in Abuja-Nigeria, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State read out a communique in which the PDP governors called on President Bola Tinubu to rethink ECOWAS’s decision on a military action:
“The PDP governors caution the Nigerian government to avoid the use of force in Niger Republic and embrace dialogue to resolve the recent coup in Niger Republic.” 
On the size of his cabinet, the PDP governors also advised President Bola Tinubu to reduce the number of political offices in order to save the cost of governance in the country.
Other issues discussed were the challenges affecting the party and strategies to ensure that the party regained its position of influence in the country while calling on the party members to avoid any action capable of negatively affecting the party.
The PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and members of the PDP Board of Trustees, also attended the meeting.
The Governors who were present at the meeting were Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State,  Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, Governor Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, and Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State.
However, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State were absent at the meeting.
This meeting is coming ahead of the judgement of the Presidential Election Petition Court expected in the coming days, and the PDP hopes it will be in its favour.
