A Federal High Court in Kaduna State nullified the election of Lawal Adamu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate for Kaduna central senatorial district, and ordered a new primary.

Earlier, the plaintiff, Usman Ibrahim, approached the court asking to nullify the primaries conducted by his party (PDP) in June on the ground of irregularities.

He said the election was marred with over voting, tempering with the delegate list, and denial of voting rights to supporters.

Ibrahim, therefore, sought the court to annul the election of his co-contestant, Lawal Adamu, who was eventually declared the winner.

In his ruling, Justice Muhammad Umar noted that all the complaints put forward by the plaintiff were substantial and therefore nullified the primary.

FRESH PRIMARY

The judge directed the party to organise a fresh primary in the next 14 days and provided an enabling environment for all the contestants to take part in the primary.

After thanking his supporters for standing for justice, Ibrahim added that the judiciary remains the last hope of the common man.
