The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has called for accelerated vaccinations against the Coronavirus, saying that this would add $9trillion to global output between now and 2025.
The IMF Managing Director, Ms Kristalina Georgieva, declared this in a virtual meeting.
“We calculated that the Fund between now and 2025, will add $9trillion to global output, if everybody is vaccinated faster.
“And the other interesting piece of this is that 60% will go to the developing and emerging market economies. 40% of the benefit will go to advanced economies and that would and that would translate into $1trillion additional tax revenues in advanced economies.
“I cannot think of a better value for money than investing in accelerated vaccinations,” Georgieva said via Twitter.
.@KGeorgieva: I cannot think of a better value for money this next year than investing in accelerated vaccinations. This will add $9 trillion between now and 2025 to global output. https://t.co/oBj0SdPNHr #GlobalEcon #IMFmeetings pic.twitter.com/csowTbuJUE
