Covid-19: Bishop says all farm produce should not be sold out at once

Bishop Johnwesley Yohanna who stated this in an interview with Voice of Nigeria in Jalingo the Taraba State capital North East Nigeria, also noted that with the second wave of covid-19 in the country, it was uncertain what the economy of the country would be.

He therefore  explained there was need to be prudent in the use of farm produce.

” I want to call on farmers in the country not to be in a rush to sell off all their farm produce before another farming season this is because with the second wave of the coronavirus has changed so many thing, making the future of the country’s economy unpredictable,” he said.

The Bishop also revealed that the prices of farm produce has increased in the recent times there by posing hardship to the people.

“A bag of maize in the country is now sold for 15000 naira, this is very exhorbitant, imagine if a farmer sells of all his food stuff before another farming season. what would he and his family eat before another farming season? so I call on farmers not to sell off their food stuff until around July or August when the new farm crops must have started coming out,” he stressed.

On the second wave of the Coronavirus, Bishop Johnwesley Yohanna also called on members to adhere strictly to the guidelines for the prevention of the spread of Coronavirus by maintaining social distancing, regular hand washing and use of facemasks.
