COVID-19: Denmark completely stops using AstraZeneca vaccine
Denmark is completely stopping the use of AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine after reports of blood clots cases among those who had received the vaccine.
Soren Brostrom, Denmark Danish Health Administration, said at a press conference in Copenhagen, the vaccination campaign will continue without the shot from the British-Swedish company.
Denmark was the first country in Europe to suspend the use of the AstraZeneca jab in its vaccination rollout on March 11 as a precautionary measure.
It has not resumed them since then, even to a limited extent as other countries have done.
The reason for the suspension was as a result of isolated severe cases of blood clots and suspected deaths in people who had previously been vaccinated with the AstraZeneca shot.
