The Nigerian Government says the Oxford/Astra Zeneca Vaccines received from COVAX is safe for consumption.

Chairman, Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in the country and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha said this in Abuja at the National Joint Media briefing.

According to him, the National Agency for Food Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has tested, analysed and certified the vaccines safe for Nigerians.

“Eight days ago, members of the PTF received their first jabs of the ASTRAZENECA vaccines. Since then, the Federal Ministry of Health and its Agencies have proceeded to roll out vaccines to the States”.

“Over the last few days, reports from all over the world have focused on the safety and side effects of the AstraZeneca vaccine that is currently being rolled out in Nigeria. The Nigerian authorities have tested and authorized the use of the vaccines because it is safe and efficacious,” he emphasised.

The Chairman, however, reassured Nigerians that the Government shall always prioritise the health of Nigerians at all times.
