The Director General of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Faisal Shuaib, has stated that over 40 million Nigerians have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

According to him in a statement released by the agency, 41,993,566 have been reached with a dose or two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

This is coming as the agency launched the SCALE 3.0 strategy aimed at intensifying efforts to ramp up the uptake of the COVID-19 vaccine.

SCALES 3.0 strategy is an intensive 3 months vaccination campaign.

The health agency stated that, “The strategy, in addition to increasing childhood immunisation coverage, is also aimed at curbing the spread of the COVID-19 virus and gaining the desired herd immunity as quickly as possible.

“We pride in the progress we have made as a country in reaching 41,993,566 eligible persons with COVID-19 vaccines as of today 26th August 2022.

“About 29,653,312 of these persons are fully vaccinated, while others are either waiting for their due date for the second dose or are on the list of those who are hesitant of taking the second dose.

“Of course, the struggle continues, and it is a matter of sworn trust that we protect the health of our people.”
