Cross River Governor Urges Optimism For 2025

As Nigerians join the rest of the world to usher in the new year, the Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has urged residents to be optimistic and strive for progress.

Governor Otu, in a New Year message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Nsa Gill, urged all Nigerians, especially residents of Cross River State, to embrace 2025 with renewed hope.

“The Cross River State Government has laid crucial foundations for prosperity and economic rebirth with different programmes and policies spread across sectors such as agriculture, industries and investment drives that would bring about growth and progress,” the message read.

According to the governor, it was imperative for citizens to approach the future with a positive mindset to achieve the desired economic growth and progress in the nation.

He further highlighted the benefits that would accrue to citizens, who embrace the programmes and projects of government based on the array of natural resources, cultural diversity and resilience of Nigerians.

“The vast natural resources, diverse culture and the resilient spirit of Nigerians and people in the state make it important for everyone to tap into the potentials and programmes of Cross River State government. By so doing, we will all work towards a brighter and more prosperous future,” he stated.

Governor Otu reiterated that progress could be achieved when citizens appreciate the importance of unity and collaboration, stressing, “it was only through collective effort that progress could be made and the residents could overcome challenges.”

He further stressed, “As we welcome the year 2025, let us eschew grievances and divisions. Let us rather come together as one nation with a shared vision for a better future. Let us cast off pessimism and embrace optimism.”

A Call For Support

Meanwhile, the Cross River Deputy Governor, Dr. Peter Odey, has called on political and traditional leaders to rally behind the administration of Governor Bassey Otu to transform the socioeconomic landscape of the state.

Dr. Odey made the appeal during a meeting with critical stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and traditional rulers from the Northern Senatorial District held in Ogoja.

While stressing the importance of unity and collaboration, the deputy governor urged stakeholders to discard their differences and embrace one another to build a progressive and united district.

He said, “I appeal to all of us that as we welcome the new year 2025, let us adopt a harmonious approach would help overcome challenges and promote development in line with Governor Otu’s ‘People First’ mantra.”

During the interaction, speakers appreciated Governor Otu’s commitment to inclusive governance as well as the implementation of impactful programmes and projects across the three senatorial districts.

They pledged their unwavering support for the success of the state government and pleaded that critical infrastructure for the provision of primary healthcare services, power supply and rural roads be constructed within the district to enable people to derive benefits.

In attendance at the stakeholders meeting were the Deputy Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Sylvester Agabi, APC State Chairman, Alphonsus Eba, traditional leaders and a host of others.
