Cross River Governor’s Wife Donates Walking Aids to Vulnerable Group

The wife of the Cross River State governor, Mrs. Eyoanwan Otu has donated walking aids to members of the Progressives Disability Advocates in fulfilment of an earlier promise made to the group.
Reverend Otu made the presentation of six wheel chairs and 3 crutches to the group during a visit to her office in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State, southern Nigeria.
Otu said, “the last time we met, I made a commitment to improve the living conditions of people living with disabilities in the state. You also made demands and one of them was to secure walking aids for your members, a promise I have fulfilled today.
“It has always been uppermost in my heart to provide succor to vulnerable people. I really do hope that these wheelchairs will go a long way to alleviating your pains and enable you move around easily especially as you go about your daily living.
“Let me reassure you all of this administration’s commitment to fulfill other demands as time progresses. One of my objective as the wife of the governor is to put smiles on the faces of people living with disabilities and better their lives,” she reiterated.
Mrs. Otu noted that the aids were donated through one of her pet project known as ‘Humanity Beyond Borders Initiative’ targeted at vulnerable groups and key populations in Cross River State.
Easy mobility

Responding to the gesture, the Director General of the Progressives Disability Advocates, Mr. Offiong Okon expressed appreciation to the wife of the governor, Reverend Otu for the commitment to provide access to aids for easy mobility.
