The Cross River State Noodles factory premium products, KISIMIE and CALAVITA will soon receive certification from the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
The governor, Professor Ben Ayade made remark after an inspection of the noodles factory at the industrial park in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State southern Nigeria.
Governor Ayade, who expressed satisfaction with the quality of noodles produced at the factory, said that the products would be pushed into the open market once it is certified.
Governor Ayade hinted that the agency had earlier visited the factory and suggested specific modifications before certification.
Ayade, who was visibly delighted with the end product at the final stages of the test run of the factory, expressed the conviction that NAFDAC would give its seal of approval before December.
The governor said, “we are at the Cross River Instant Noodles Factory with the Executive Council of Cross River State to witness the test run production by the concessionaire.
“We want to say we are particularly proud of the concessionaire we have given the factory. Our brand which is Calavita and Kisimie are fully operational and the products will soon be hitting the market.
“l therefore implore every Cross River citizen and Nigerian alike to patronize this fresh noodles produced only from natural ingredients with the spices having their origin from the Nigerian farms and waters.
“We cannot hit the markets until we have a NAFDAC approval. NAFDAC has come here and done all their specification studies and issued us a report, which we are closing out on.
“We have met all their requirements. We are going through our own internal check list and once we are satisfied with our checklist we will ask NAFDAC to come for final inspection,” Ayade said.
School Feeding
The governor disclosed that the state government was seeking partnership with the Nigerian Government’s school feeding program especially with the completion of production at the factory.
According to him, “I think that for the school feeding program, we can produce and incorporate growth hormones into this noodles.
“The federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs should please encourage and patronize this factory so that our young people, who depend on noodles as a means of fixing breakfast or lunch will depend on these noodles to for healthy food,” the governor appealed.
He said the partnership with the Nigerian Government would set local manufacturers on the path of prosperity and in the process create employment opportunities, which would positively grow the economy of the state and county.
