Cross River State Provides Logistic Support to Anti-graft Commission
By Eme Offiong, Calabar
The government of Cross River State in Southern Nigeria has provided pickup trucks to its newly inaugurated anti-graft commission to enhance the operational efficiency of members.
The governor of the state, Professor Ben Ayade, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Martins Orim underscored the importance of logistics to the effective performance of an organization.
Orim said about the government “we know that logistics is one of the factors, which enables any organisation or government agency to achieve effective service delivery; that is why we are doing this.”
He continued, “apart from these vehicles, the governor has equally directed that the commission’s take off grant and office accommodation be immediately made available.”
Performance
Responding to the gesture, the Chairman of the Cross River Anti-graft Commission, Justice Effiom Ita was appreciative of the trucks, which he acknowledge would enhance their work especially as members travel across the state.
Ita assured that members of the commission would “hit the ground running.”
It would be recalled that last month Governor Ayade inaugurated the Commission with a charge on its members to seal up block leakages in government.
The governor had earlier stated: “There are so many places that we have identified are used for leakages in this state. But, we are counting on you as members of this laudable commission to bring your wealth of experience and expertise to bear on the job.
“We would want to a perfect example of how a Public Complaint and Anti -Corruption Commission could play its role. Therefore, there should be no political intrusions of any kind, no hatchets, nothing intended against anyone. We intend to give glory to the state and not shame,” he said.
The governor further charged members to “never be used for any other purpose other than the purpose for which the commission was constituted. So have it in mind that you have been elevated through this commission to serve God before serving the state.”
The commission has Justice Ita as chairman, while the others include Mr. Akinde Emmanuel, Eferi Eni Okoi, Mr. John Odey representing the state government and , while Mrs. Franca Inok, Mr. Emmanuel Adam representing the Nigerian police and Mr. Faluyi Oluwale represents the Department of State Security, DSS.
